Volumetric transvaginal probes

Unlike a conventional transvaginal probe used only for 2D imaging, a volumetric probe can acquire a volume of data and allow reconstruction in different planes. This may be useful in early pregnancy and selected gynaecological/obstetric assessments.

It is not used automatically for every patient: the probe and approach are selected to answer the clinical question.

What technology cannot promise

It cannot detect every condition or remove all ultrasound limitations.
It does not replace training, experience or clinical interpretation.

It does not prevent some scans needing repetition or hospital-level assessment.
