First ultrasound
What may be seen and when it may still be too early.
Open informationNot every test needs to be done immediately. The first aim is to date the pregnancy, review your health and choose the right time for consultation and ultrasound.
The value of ultrasound depends on gestational age and the reason for assessment. At a very early stage only part of the expected development may be visible and a repeat scan may be needed.
Severe pain, significant bleeding, dizziness, fainting or risk factors should not wait for a routine scan.
