Frequently asked questions
A general answer may not fit an individual situation. For specific symptoms or results, use clinical consultation or the appropriate urgent pathway.
- Obstetric consultation
- Advanced ultrasound
- Laboratory and screening
- Late-pregnancy monitoring
- Nutrition
Can I use Askabide for follow-up and give birth through Osakidetza?
Yes. This is the model we recommend: combine Askabide and Osakidetza checks and have birth care at the public reference hospital.
Does Askabide provide labour, birth or caesarean care?
No. We provide prenatal follow-up but not birth or caesarean care. We recommend the public reference hospital for birth.
When can NI/+ be performed?
Laboratorio Calderón states that NI/+ is available from ultrasound-confirmed week 10.
Is NI/+ diagnostic?
No. It is a screening test. A high-risk result needs interpretation and, where appropriate, diagnostic confirmation.
What does your NI/+ analyse?
Aneuploidies across all chromosomes, sex chromosome conditions and deletions/duplications over 7 Mb; fetal sex is optional.
Do you offer a test only for fetal sex?
Yes. It is a specific maternal blood test separate from NI/+ chromosome screening.
Which ultrasound systems do you use?
General Electric Voluson E8 systems with abdominal and volumetric transvaginal probes where indicated.
When do you start fetal monitoring?
Within the Askabide protocol it may start from week 36, usually weekly and individualised.
Does a reactive trace guarantee everything will remain well?
No. It is reassuring for the recorded period but cannot predict all later progress and does not replace other checks.
Do you provide pregnancy nutrition support?
Yes. Dr Odriozola provides nutrition care during pregnancy and postpartum.
Can I book using WhatsApp?
Yes, for administrative purposes. Do not send reports, intimate images, identity documents or urgent messages.
What should I do with bleeding, severe pain or reduced movements?
Do not wait for an online reply. Use obstetric emergency care or call 112 if there is immediate danger or rapid deterioration.
